8月2日 Moving DayI hate the new MSN Spaces. I've been wanting to move for awhile and now I am. You can find me over at the new Tales Site. Unfortunatly at the moment I can't export this site. MSN makes it damn hard. I'll get there tho! 7月30日 What's this? This would be WIP, the Streakers Shrug made out of Silver Thaw by Noro.
There's not much to see yet except for miles of stockinette. I've done all the increases for the sleeves and just have to knit away at them. It's knit in one peice so there is minimal seaming, BUT my Addi's are ready to explode with all the stitches on them. Have you seen the new yarn lines by Knit Picks? I'm doing the Central Park Hoodie KAL with Ms Southern Belle. Since it doesn't start until September I have time to figure out the yarn I want. I really like the new heathered Wool of the Andes and the new Shamrock yarn from Knit Picks.... now to just figure out a color..... I'm at work for the new little bit so no updates until Thursday at the earliest. Knit On! 7月28日 Better late than never?Oops...

7月16日 I swearI swear (anyone else remember that song? who sang it?) that I have pictures. Somehow I misplaced the card reader. I did some very artsy fartsy shots of Ms Misplaced Southern Belle's kickin' stitch markers. I'm off tomorrow tho, so I should be able to find the card reader and format the pics.
I had a kick my ass night last night at work. I opened my mouth when I walked in and asked if I was first admit. I was because I opened my mouth. So two hours later the running started. Little kid kicked my butt. Thank God we had some humane nurses working last night that were big on helping me out. (Doesn't it suck Janette when you're drowning only to look up and see another nurse reading the paper?) Anyways, I'll have the broken baby again tonight, but considering I was sock knitting at 3:30 this morning, I should have a better night.
Have I ever mentioned how much I HATE gussets? No really I hate them. I don't like how they feel and I certainly don't like knitting them. Well my Hurricane Sock Pal sock pattern called for gussets and I'm too much of a weeny to try to change the pattern to a short row. I was cursing up a storm last night trying to knit the freaking thing. I did do it though and am knitting the foot. Whatever
Ok it's 4:30 I've gotta get moving for work... knit on! 7月15日 Yeah I know10 days since my last entry. Call it post Mom visit funk, I just haven't wanted to blog. I have pics, but they are on my laptop and not on the desktop reformatted. A pity because I have a list of photos I have or need to take and post. I did finish one sock for Mom of the Lorna's Laces. I did start my Hurricane Sock Swap sock and am working on the heel. I love Interlacements Toasty Toes. I do believe I have a favorite sock yarn now. It works out really well for me since I like socks thicker anyways.
I chopped, and I do mean chopped, all of my hair off. It's the shortest it's been in 6 years. I love it. Hubby doesn't, but he still thinks it looks cute. But he prefers the Woolly Mammoth look I've been sporty this summer thus far.
The cardi is in time out. The pattern, I believe, is wrong from Simply Knitting. No clue, since the company won't email me back to tell me. If I don't hear anything soon, off to my LYS to see what they say.
I have an amazing secret pal. I already nominated her for Best Pal. Despite a crazy work schedule (crazier than mine!) she has come through time and time again. I got my next box and inside was some more Lorna's Laces in the Rainbow colorway! Can you believe it? I have been coveting that rainbow-y goodness for ages. Also, there was some trail mix and Alaska Tea. Totally cool as it's highly recommended as an Ice Tea. (No real need for hot tea in Florida in the summer). The beagies made out the best. They got a package of wild salmon dog treats, bacon flavored of course. While I don't appreciate the smell (great if you have a stuffy nose) the beagies LOVED them. Josie about nearly exploded in delight after the first one. Beagies and I think you so much secret pal!
Work is work. Pooh is doing amazingly well. She can't get out of there yet as she still needs to much oxygen, but she's working on it.
I can't post at work anymore, so it'll have to wait until my next day off, non swing dancing day (did I mention that? Oh next time) to post, I do promise some pictures then! 7月5日 And sometimes things go rightJust sometimes however....
Had a great weekend at Sanibel. I do have pics but they are still on the laptop waiting to get up online. I didn't finish the cardi since I left the yarn at home. Nor did I finish Mom's socks since I left the yarn at home. I did start and finish Mom's one skein wonder and some washclothes.
The trip wasn't without some tears. We go away the weekend of the 4th since my stepdad, Bobby, died in 2003 on the 4th. He lost his battle with ALS 6 months after diagnosis. It wasn't fair or right, him and my Mom were soul mates and he was a father to me. Well we cried a bit on Sunday night. It was a combination of things. One of my greatest regrets in life, if not my only, was not going home more when he was diagnosed. I went home right before diagnosis in February and then again in May. From the time I saw him mid-May till he died in July, he went into hospice (inpatient) and lost an additional 30 pounds. When I finally saw him at his wake, I didn't recognize him. Somewhere in my mind, he hasn't died, because the man in the casket wasn't him. Anyways, my regret is missing that decline and not helping my Mom more. Reasons are plenty why, but in the end they were all stupid. Someone only dies once. You should be there to ease the burden instead of worrying about the stupid crap of life. For that I failed my Mom.
Anyways a year ago she met an amazing man. Bobby (yeah same name, gets kinda freaky), is the exact opposite of my stepdad. I mean he's a great guy and all, but as far as intrests and humor, he's a polar opposite. But he loves my Mom a great deal and wants to marry her. After she thought about it for a few days and talked to me and Jeff, she was more than happy to say yes. I am so happy that she can move on. In so many ways she feels guilty for this. I wish she wouldn't, but I understand. I think that is why this year has been hard for her. I know my stepdad is up there in heaven on the 19th hole, enjoying a Guinness, wishing the best for them both. I just have to convince Mom of that....
In other news, remember Pooh? Well I came back to work today after being off for 9 days. She has been on her home vent for a week, sedation free and doing great. I'm not saying this is it, but it sure is closer than we've ever been before.
I'll post again with photos sometime this week....
later gators....
PS Happy Birthday to my Dad, John....
6月26日 Houston, we have knittingI am here, just worked all of last week and today was hubby's birthday. I surprised him with tickets for Busch Gardens and Universal Studios. The tickets for Universal are the seasonal annual passes, so of course, today was blacked out. Oh well. We had a great time, despite the constant threat of rain, at Busch Gardens. Jeff and I both love coasters, and neither of us had been to BG since Sheikra opened. The drop is as impressive as it looks. I screamed by bloody head off as we dropped. But it was a great day. Hopefully we can get to Universal soon to ride the Mummy coaster.
Anyways, you came here for knitting content, and content you shall have!
I did some stash enhancement this past week, both online and at our favorite haunt, Knit n Knibble. I had to miss not only the main sale on Saturday for their second anniversary, but I also had to miss the Hurricane Sock Sisters meet and knit that same day. Kudos to Christy for all that she has done to set up the Hurricane Sock Swap. (On a side note, we're headed to Leesburg to try out the new yarn shop, Chez Causelle) Anyways at KnK, I picked up a few goodies.
First we have Austermann Step. Who knew they carried it? Not me! And they had a colorway I've never seen before, number 14, I think it's called Flint. As you can see (or maybe not) it's a subtle colorway of dusky green, grey-purple, and cream Not normally my color choice, but it's so pretty.
Next up we have Knit One Crochet Too's Wick, colorway 622, blue green. Not sure where the green comes in, there is none. This will become One Skein Wonder. Yeah I know, I'm late on the bandwagon.
![]() The cool thing about Wick is it's a soy blend. It's amazingly soft and cuddly, but cool for this crazy hot Florida weather.
Next up is Cascade Sierra Quatro in colorway 90. No name given. Hoping this may become my mom's gloves since 100% cotton didn't work out. This has some wool for bounce. We'll see. I love this picture, you can really see that each ply is a totally different color.
![]() I also picked up more Inox circulars, they really do make a great set for a much nicer price than Addi's. I love my Addi's but the cost is a bit stupid when you realize you need 2 to make socks.
Before KnK, I did some online shopping with some people from work. I ordered 3 skeins, 660 yds, of Silver Thaw from Noro. This is meant to become the Streakers Shrug from the spring 2006 IK. (It's 2nd from the bottom). Silver Thaw is a soft warm Wool/ Angora blend. Again, this normally wouldn't have been my first color choice, but I love the bright colors on the warmers darker background.
Isn't it pretty?
I also ordered another skein of Austermann Step. It's the midnight blue colorway.
![]() Ok, now for actual knitting. I started the first sleeve to the cardi, had to stop due to the whole wrist feeling like it was going to fall off....
I couldn't get a good pic of it, so you'll have to wait until it's done.
I do have a good shot of my Mom's socks. It's in Lorna's Laces Sheppard Sock in Mineshaft. Again, not much progress due to the wrist issue. But it looks good!
![]() That's it for now. I'll be away this weekend, but I should be able to post either right before I leave or when I get back. Have a great week!
